Fourteen-year-old Ariel is the head chef in her family’s kitchen. Julie Crabtree won the Milkweed Prize for Children’s Literature for her novel, Discovering Pig Magic. She has also been published in the San Francisco Chronicle Magazine, Highlights for Children, MotherVerse, Green Prints, and Knowledge Quest. She received her BA from the University of California at Davis in English and her paralegal certificate. Julie worked as a legal administrator until 1999, when she became a freelance writer. Passionate about cooking and gardening, Julie lives with her husband and two young daughters in Crescent City, California.
