About this eBook

Jackson is looking forward to visiting his aunt who has been busy working on an anthropological dig at Stonehenge in England. Jackson can't wait to finally see the massive and mysterious stone formations in person. But then he witnesses a vicious attack on a young man, and another on his beloved aunt Sarah. A savage beast no one has ever seen before is on the prowl. Now it's up to Jackson and his new friend, Alma, a gravedigger's daughter, to stop the beast. All the clues lead back to Stonehenge, where he and Alma must risk their lives to solve the mystery of the monster stalking the countryside-before it's too late.

I read this book in fifth grade at the age of eleven after purchasing it at a school book fair. It was actually the reason I became such an avid reader. To me there is nothing better as a child, or a thirty year old as I am now. To sit down and read a book that is so well written, that while reading, it plays out scenes in your mind as vivid as scenes from a movie... Just don't understand why kids aren't as into books now days..

About the author

Paul Zindel wrote more than 40 novels, including The Pigman, one of the best-selling young adult books of all time, and Pardon Me, You’re Stepping on My Eyeball! His Broadway play, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, won the Pulitzer Prize and was produced as a film directed by Paul Newman. Mr. Zindel taught high school chemistry for ten years before turning to writing full-time. His work as an author brought him to exotic destinations around the world, from Australia’s Great Barrier Reef to the monkey forests of Indonesia. Drawing from those experiences, he created The Zone Unknown series—packed full of horror, humor, adventure and bravery—with reluctant readers in mind. It includes six titles: Loch, The Doom Stone, Raptor, Rats, Reef of Death, and Night of the Bat. Fans can visit Paul Zindel on the Web at www.paulzindel.com.
