Omar Khadr is the last Western prisoner at the Guantanamo Bay detention centre. He has been held at the American naval base since October 2002, accused of killing a U.S. sergeant in Afghanistan. He is the author of five books, including most recently Ethical Oil and Shakedown: How Our Government Is Undermining Democracy in the Name of Human Rights, which won the Writers' Trust and Samara's Best Canadian Political Book of the Last 25 Years.
