The synposis makes the volume sound more whimsical than it actually is, not that it became dark, but there's quite a bit drama in this volume that the synposis fails to mention. Also, the latter half of it talks about stuff that happens halfway through the volume. Nonetheless, this volume really goes into Lucia and Maria's relationship and I really like the way the author handled the conflict of Maria being summoned to a world she has no responsibility saving and how Maria adjusts to her role in this world and her relationship with the other characters. There's also some development in Lucia and Celes' relationship which was really cute. Some stuff happens between Maria and the prince as well and I'm interested in seeing how their relationship will develop. A criticism I have on the overall story is the introduction of a character early in the volume. The character is overall useless to the story and honestly, I think the story could continue without that character (at least in this volume). Most of the time, they're mentioned as an afterthought. Either way, I enjoyed this volume and I think the next volume may be the last one from the way the story is going (don't quote me though). I'm really interested in seeing what happens next.

A more eventful volume than the first one, which retains its predecessor's good qualities. We see the beautiful friendship between Maria and Lucia grow, which is probably one of the most wholesome passages I've read, at the same time, the relationships between our little group starts to change, and for some develop into more. Don't fret no more Celes, we, readers got your back ! Looking forward to the next and last volume.
