Read it as a whim while on watch and loved it, even after I got off I could put it down. The story is amazing and even though I didnt like the protagonist (which isnt a deal breaker) I found myself on edge wondering if she would get caught or if someone would save her. Though she was whiny and reckless I found her inspiring in the way that she didnt back down or would fight. I wish there was a little more of the harry trying to win her over or feeling development with travis before killing him off. I found Cass to be flat as a character, she lacked demention and didnt jump off the pages like the other characters she also seemed fake to me. She did however make the protagonist seem more likeable and less whiny. Also thank you for actually killing characters and making the world around them vivid. I liked the use of children zombies which seem to often be forgotten or used for shock value in work, this book however was so casual about it. Loved it.

I don't want people to think this is that typical story about zombies taking over. This is HUNDREDS of YEARS AFTER THE first bite..this is like Our Great, Great Great Grandchildren living through it. It's an AWESOME story that grabs ahold of you, and you can't let go.I read it a few years ago at my local Library, And After I Downloaded The Bookstore, This Was The Book ThatI Want To Read. And the book after, About Mary's Daughter. "Dead tossed waves" SOOO Beautiful

When I started the book I loved it, it had a interesting world and I could not help but think it would be a good movie. It really captured me for the first few chapters until it brought in the romance plot, it was one of the most maddening romance plots I have read. Watching Mary obsess with Travis was like watching paint dry. After setting up the world and introducing Gabrielle, all I wanted was for her to do what she wanted to get out of town to live out her dreams. When that did happen I was very disappointed, that had to be the safest zombie infested forest ever created. The only danger in this book was Mary's poor decision making. I love this book for the world it built, for the good moments that did happen, but the lack of compelling danger you hope for out of a zombie book left it empty.
