About this eBook

Members of Hanger's Horsemen, Mark Wallace and Jonah Brooks arrive in Llano County, Texas, to deliver a steed, never expecting they'd deliver a baby as well. Left with an infant to care for, they head to a nearby foundling home, where Mark encounters the woman he'd nearly married a decade ago.

After failing at love, Katherine Palmer dedicated her life to caring for children, teaming up with Eliza Southerland to start Harmony House. From mixed ancestry, illegitimate, and female, Eliza understands the pain of not fitting society's mold. Yet those are the very attributes that lead her to minister to outcast children. The taciturn Jonah intrigues her with his courage and kindness, but there are secrets behind his eyes--ghosts from wars past and others still being waged.

However, when a handful of urchin children from the area go missing, a pair of Horsemen are exactly what the women need. Working together to find the children, will these two couples find love as well?

This is book two in the Hanger's Horsemen series, however I feel it is a stand alone book you just miss a little history of the Horsemen. I look forward to reading more from this series. Karen Witemeyer has a fun, spunky, detailed writing style. If you enjoy historical romance books you will like this one. This book focus is on Both Mark Wallace and Jonah Brooks, we met both of them in book one. Mark and Jonah find themselves in a predicament they never imagined. Then that bundle of joy leads them to some unexpected changes in their lives. Mark never imagined he would see Katherine again yet when she opens the door to Harmony House they must figure out how to work together. I loved all the twist, turns, romance, friendship and so much more in this novel. I look forward to book three. I was gien a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

As members of Hanger's Horsemen, Mark Wallace and Jonah Brooks have a legendary quality. Unfortunately many can't see past the legend to the heart and soul of the men behind it. But when a newborn baby needs immediate transport to a foundling home Mark and Jonah find themselves in the right place at the right time. And when Mark is reunited with his first love he doesn't know whether this is a good thing or not. Katherine Palmer left society and her ruined reputation behind when she moved to Texas to start a home for foundlings. She knew she would never marry not after the mistake that she made but she could still do some good for those innocents who needed the care and love she could offer them. But when the man whose heart she rejected turns up with a child in need she is given a second chance. But there is more than a foundling home and a lost love to keep Mark and Jonah in Llano County, Texas when they hear rumors of kiddy-nappers. When someone is in need Hanger's Horsemen aren't about to turn a blind eye to the situation. The Heart's Charge is the second book in the Hanger's Horsemen series and like the first follows the life of soldiers who are seeking to do good after witnessing and taking part in war's atrocities. This book focuses on Mark and Jonah and their bonds of friendship and brotherhood. It was interesting to see how they interacted with Kate and Eliza and how these interactions changed as the four had to work together for the good of the children they were drawn to help. This book is a historical romance with definite elements of mystery. It is a well-written book that has excellent pacing and attention to detail without being wordy. The characters are dimensional and relatable so one cares about them and what they are going through. Would make a great book club selection. I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion ~ All thoughts expressed are my own

I can't say enough about this story. It's really a 2 for 1 deal in that it's written about two couples and the author develops all 4 people so well. Not a lot of authors could do that in the length of one novel. However, both couples were given enough "page space" to be well represented and well developed. I felt I knew each of the 4 protagonists very well, including their backstories and their feelings. That's not to say that there wasn't enough room for the current story too! It was a great one! There are missing children, children that no one really "misses" because they are the ones without families and are in the shadows. However, Mark and Jonah, two of Hanger's Horsemen, are going to investigate and it just might do them in! Katherine and Eliza, who run a foundling home, will help them and along the way, become embroiled in this investigation. There is so much to love about this story. Mark almost married Katherine 10 years ago back East and he can't believe it when he sees her again in Texas! Jonah has always thought he'd be single until he meets Eliza who changes his world! I. Love. This. Book!
