About this ebook

First in an exciting new trilogy of short stories set in medieval Scotland, bridging Amanda Forester's medieval and Regency series. Three Campbell sisters find true love with the ancestors of the three heroes featured in the author's hot new Regency romances.

In this first installment, the clan has gathered for May Day festivities, and Laird Campbell is trying to arrange marriages for his younger sisters. Practical Elyne Campbell is pleased to marry whomever her brother has chosen for her. Unfortunately, she is more attracted to Tavish Grant, the cousin of her intended, than the prospective groom himself. When she is caught outside the castle gates during a siege and is forced to spend time hiding with Grant, the attraction grows beyond all hope of practicality.

A real treat, this book. A highland woman is to be married to a laird who also serves as sheriff of the city. He is a dour, pessimistic, uber strong man who only wants a wife to keep his castle in order and provide children. In the days before the wedding, the bride decides she needs a ride in the valley to get away from the fuss. As she is ready to return, she notices a cousin of the groom riding up into the hills. Thinking to warn him of the dangers of encountering English soldiers coming to retake the castle, she rides after. He wants to see the abandoned older castle so she escorts him. The soldiers do arrive and inadvertently come between the occupied castle and the abandoned one, the couple decide to take up residence in the wreck. Proximity works its influence and the couple remain for 3 days. On finally arriving back where they belong, order must be restored. Any romance reader can predict the ending but the details are clever so I won't divulge the mechanism. Worth reading

Enticingly romantic. They loved each other from the start, only to be hampered by doing what's right. Ah the dilemma.
