In addition to a full-time job and a busy writing schedule, Vickie raises championship American Quarter Horses on her ranch in Texas, and fosters dogs in need of new homes for the Animal Rescue League.Her love of animals often shows up in Vickie's books. Virgin Without A Memory, Vickie's second book for Silhouette Intimate Moments, is especially close to her heart. The novel is set on a horse ranch much like her own, and many of the animals in the book are named after real animals in her life.Oliver, a stray dog who makes an appearance in her third book, The Lawman's Last Stand, is based on Vickie's real-life dog Sierra, an eight-year-old Great Dane/Australian Shepherd mix she adopted last summer.Vickie lives in Aubrey, Texas, a small town dubbed The Heart of Horse Country, with her ever-growing menagerie.
