this series was fantastic. I'm not a huge reader, I'm fairly slow, but I was glued to these books. id read them on my break at work, or when I was in the bathroom, and got the whole series done in a year. if you're into historical fiction, id definitely recommend these books.

Enthralling and exciting history lesson with added extras. An intriguing insight into the Danish invasion of England and the Saxon way of life. Blood thirsty and action packed. I loved every minute of this superb book.

I don't normally like 1st person narration but Cornwell,s writing carries you along. This book reopened my interest in Anglo Saxon history especially Aethelflead who I first came across many years ago through a project at work. The description of the chaos caused by the Viking invasions is wonderfully described and the plot leaves you wanting more.
