About this ebook

The Last Letter is a haunting, heartbreaking and ultimately inspirational love story.“—InTouch Weekly

Beckett,

If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have.

I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride.

My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. It’s not fair.

And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart. She’s going to need help.

So if I’m gone, that means I can’t be there for Ella. I can’t help them through this. But you can. So I’m begging you, as my best friend, go take care of my sister, my family.

Please don’t make her go through it alone.

Ryan

I fell in love with Rebecca Yarros because of Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. This book was nothing but nothing like them. A bit soppy and Mills and Boon, but good enough to read to the end.

Rebecca Yarros is just amazing as a writer. She captures emotions so beautifully. I enjoyed and enjoy each and every one of her novels. This one however lovely and intense it is but it was a bit too tragic. Very sad. It broke my heart.😢

I've attempted to write this review so many times and just haven't been able to find the words. I also had to come back to my rating. Initially it was 5 stars because, while I was heartbroken, it was beautifully written and kept me glued to the story. But as the days went on, and the more I thought about it, I had to drop a star. I'm used to angst from this author. All of the books I've read by her are pretty angsty but this book is on a whole other level. There are a lot of heartbreaking events in this story. There's a lot of loss. It made it read more like women's fiction than romance. There was one event toward the end of the story (that I won't spoil for anyone else) that is what ultimately made me drop the star. It felt like gratuitous heartbreak. It didn't, for me, add anything to this story other than let's punch the reader in the gut. Other than that one thing, I loved this book. The letters, the strength, the growth: it was all so amazing. I was immediately connected to all of these characters and I wanted everything to work out for them. There were parts that were light and funny and helped balance the incredible amount of angst in this story. *this is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*

About the author

Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and a lover of all things coffee and chocolate. She is the author of the award-winning Flight & Glory series and The Renegades. She loves military heroes, and has been blissfully married to her Apache pilot for seventeen years.

When she's not writing, she's tying hockey skates for her four sons, sneaking in guitar time, or watching brat-pack movies with her two daughters. She lives in Colorado with her husband, their rambunctious gaggle of kids, and their menagerie of pets. Having adopted their youngest daughter from the foster system, Rebecca is a passionate advocate for children through her nonprofit, One October.
