In terms of shear response to a book, The Lazarus Project certainly has instigated many opinions and reviews. Good or bad, I'm drawn to the book simply because of the motivation it gave people to say something about it. After reading the synopsis, I was struck by how the author, an immigrant, was able to write about so effectively about the American experience in a way that seemed to generate many opinions.
About the author
Aleksandar Hemon is the author of The Lazarus Project, Love and Obstacles, The Question of Bruno, Nowhere Man and The Book of My Lives. He has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a MacArthur Genius Award, the Jan Michalski Prize for Literature, the PEN/W. G. Sebald Award, and, most recently, a 2012 USA Fellowship. He lives in Chicago.
