About this eBook

In a “sexy, suspenseful read,” #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts delivers “a slow-burning fuse of a plot that ultimately explodes in a nail-biting conclusion.”*

Shelby Foxworth lost her husband. Then she lost her illusions…

The man who took her from Tennessee to an exclusive Philadelphia suburb left her in crippling debt. He was an adulterer and a liar, and when Shelby tracks down his safe-deposit box, she finds multiple IDs. The man she loved wasn’t just dead. He never really existed.

Shelby takes her three-year-old daughter and heads south to seek comfort in her hometown, where she meets someone new: Griff Lott, a successful contractor. But her husband had secrets she has yet to discover. Even in this small town, surrounded by loved ones, danger is closer than she knows—and threatens Griff, as well. And an attempted murder is only the beginning...

This is the worst Nora Roberts book I have read. It seems impossible she wrote it. The first two thirds of the book are so slow, I had to constantly remind myself that since I paid for it, I would read it! It's too bad because the subject of the story is interesting. I do not understand why Mrs. Roberts would approve to put her name on this. She might have created the idea of the story but it doesn't look like she wrote this book on her own with her usual talent. I definitely DO NOT recommend The Liar!

Another wonderful romance - read (with enough suspense to keep it from being too syrupy) from Nora Roberts. Only thing was I saw the surprise ending coming from the beginning...not very original but a satisfying payoff. I just wish she used more conjunctions instead of all the lazy grammar. Everyone sounds the same.

I can't believe- what had happened to Nora Roberts when she was writing it? The storyline was perfectly entrancing, and the first chapters really good. But then? It was all so slow. The chapters were full of things not at all adjoined to the end, and they absolutely succeeded to disinterest me. The end was good, though the numbers of characters were just too many, confusing than ever, and the murderer didn't need second -guessing.
