The Secret Bride is a story of empowerment, understanding and forgiveness. A drastic choice made in her youth left lasting consequences for Jacie. In the aftermath she had to make some touch decisions. Brett saw himself as Jacie's protector no matter what. But when she disappeared without a backward glance, he was left heartbroken and confused. Ten years later, Jacie returns to confront her past and maybe claim her future. Jeannie Watt has written a story that is full of emotion, big on secrets and a beautiful read. I received an ARC of The Secret Bride in exchange for an honest review.

A tale of loss. The loss of a happy family, young love and innocence. A
tale of strength. The strength of this young, single mother to support
herself and her daughter while getting through school. A tale of
stubbornness. To obtain success in the male dominated profession she loves.
A tale of risk. As she reaches out for a job in her hometown and out to her
long lost love. And finally, a tale of redemption. As she gives in to her
heart and loves again.

When Jacie is asked to head up the Montreau Hotel renovation, she can’t resist! As the head engineer, this could be her big break. But when Jacie and her daughter Darby move into the place her friend Carrie found for her, she realizes she is right across the street from Brett. Who happens to be the one person she was not looking forward to seeing. Ten years ago, she left him at the court house alter. And she was the one who proposed to him. On top of it all, she is supposed to deal with Clinton, her ex-stepfather, in regards to renovations, Jacie is regretting she took the job at all. Book #5 from the Cherry Lake series, each story has gotten even better than the last! I absolutely loved this story!! The characters were fabulous, with exception of Clinton of course but he was the guy you loved to hate. I loved the little precocious Darby, a sweet little soul who knew what a great dad Brett would be. Kids are quite intuitive! I highly recommend reading this series!!
