This is a very old translation of this Greek classic. There are many newer translations, both prose and verse, that are much much more readable. The Odyssey is an amazing epic poem first composed nearly 3000 years ago. If you haven't read it, do NOT start with this translation from 1871. There are several good ones, like Lattimore's or Fagles' . . . If you can't afford to buy a more recent translation, go to your local library, they might even have ebooks available to check out online.

I'm in book 2 and so far I'm loving it and so far what I've read pretty much tells me that I'm not alone in that in the situation that I am dealing with there is many before me that's been to the same thing
