The Official History of the Tour de France is a celebration of one of the greatest annual sporting events, and the premier competition in world cycling.
Through more than 300 photographs, rarely-seen documents and items of memorabilia, this book covers more than a century of fascinating stories on the Tour and its iconic yellow jersey.

This revised and updated edition includes an authoritative narrative account of each major era, up to and including the thrilling 2020 Tour - a dramatic contest completed against all the odds - and a preview of the 2021 event. There are features on superstar cyclists and memorable moments from each period of the event's rich history, and a foreword from legendary Tour de France champion Stephen Roche, all of which combines to form the definitive illustrated book on the Tour.

À propos de l'auteur

Luke Edwardes-Evans is a freelance writer who regularly contributes articles to Cycling Weekly. He is the author of the Official Tour de France Bike Maintenance Book. He lives in Tonbridge, in Kent, a short hop from France. Andy McGrath is a staff writer for Cycling Weekly and Cycle Sport magazines. He has covered the Tour de France, Tour of Italy and the sport's big one-day Classics. Serge Laget has followed the Tour since 1954 when, aged seven, he watched the peloton ride through his native Cévennes region of southern France. As a journalist, he has covered the race for L'Équipe - France's leading sports newspaper - for more than 30 years, and also written numerous Tour-related books. Born in Yffiniac, Brittany, Bernard Hinault was the last great French champion of the Tour de France. A proud Breton, he had the strength of character to assume leadership of the tight-knit peloton from an early age, and his five Tour wins place him among the greatest cyclists of all time. One of the most self-possessed champions in Tour history, he remains a legend. Hinault vowed to retire aged 32 and did just that, riding his last Tour in 1986 and winning three stages, the King of the Mountains, and lending a hand to Greg LeMond en route to the American’s first Tour win.
