His books include Theater and World, Breath and Dust, Representing the New World, Empires and Colonies, Musing, Dreamwork, and From Shakespeare to Obama. He has held appointments and visiting appointments at Toronto, Cambridge, Alberta, the Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III), Princeton, Harvard, among others.
