After months of hiding in the attic of the Mannerheim’s Berlin flat, the Caslav family knew the time had come for them to risk the dangers of escape. Ruth and Friedrich find themselves falling in love, but it is a love that causes family division; a love that uncovers the past. It’s a past she thought lost to her forever, but it could cost her everything.

C.F. Fairthorne’s professional career involved the writing and development of technical directives and manuals, and worked closely with the military during the Cold War years. His love for creative writing first bloomed in the 1990s, when he started to write his debut novel The Price of Freedom.
