"The Procurator of Judea" by Anatole France is the story of two Roman friends, Lamia and Pontius Pilate, who, at the end of their lives, are recalling their memories of Palestine. In this tale, France aimed to provoke in his readers reflections on history and memory and how these two concepts intersect, but aren't always in line with one another as Pilate remembers everything but is unable to fully comprehend the event that would make his name go down in history.
