I enjoyed this first book of the series. I'm glad there are more to come! Jake is a fairly arrogant police detective who is the head of a task force to find a serial killer who is terrorizing women in Los Angeles. He is very surprised when Kyra is put on the task force. She's not law enforcement but rather a psychologist who specializes in helping victims of crimes, among other things. She was there when he had a very bad experience with another psychologist and he really doesn't want Kyra on the task force but he'll learn to live with it! Kyra isn't excited to work with Jake either but so it goes. The body count is rising and the killer must be stopped. I liked all the secondary characters, especially the crusty retired detective who is like a father to Kyra. He's a sweet ol' guy! This book had a lot of action and shows you the steps the police go through to catch a killer. A very good story!

What great start to a new series. Looking forward to the rest. Enjoyed the hit n miss between Kyra and Jake. They each keep things from the other, which comes out relatively early each time. (Thank you Carol Ericson - I dislike when something is hidden and the misunderstandings carry throughout the whole book. ) There is mystery, secret behind Kyra. We are right there trying to decipher what it is. Bits and pcs are spilled and when Jake starts questioning we jump on his bandwagon to trying to figure it all out. This is all taking place and making an impact on the murders they are investigating. The copy cat killer. Right? Or is it a copy cat? We are led to believe it is, but its not in stone. We meet Quinn the Detective on the original killer, who they never caught. The past with Kyra and Quinn is a heart melting moment. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions and am looking forward to the next book in the series!
