Bishop Jones became Pastor of the Southside Tabernacle Church in 1972. At that time, the church averaged 50 in attendance. Under his leadership Southside’s Church membership grew to over 1000 people. He served the church faithfully for 40 years. In 1980 he organized the Inner City Workers Conference. During the next 23 years and under his direction, a total of over 40 churches were started and over 100 men and women were trained to go into various urban centers throughout America to reach the lost and start Inner City Works.
Pastor Jones is very active in the CAPS (Community Alternative Policing) program in Chicago. Notably, he has also served as a Local School Council Member for five public schools. He has been featured extensively on television and through the printed media locally and nationally. Chicago’s Mayor Richard M. Daley and Alderwoman LaTasha Thomas along with many other prominent city dignitaries have acknowledged his fervent dedication and outreach into the community with numerous award and accolades. Spencer is married to Pastor Kathy A. E. Jones and they have four children
