Keynote: Aware that this "Story of the Files" of Californian magazines and journals, is, like all things human, far from being perfect, the author has only to say that it has been prepared mainly for the purpose of preserving the names, pictures and histories of the writers of long ago, those who are now dead and forgotten. The record of the writers of today may be added to and bettered by him who comes after.
