I was confused at the start of The Surprise. It seemed to start back at the very beginning of the Birch Creek Series. I found that it moves along through the series and ends towards the end of Reboot, and it ended with a “Surprise!” I certainly hope Bridget carries this storyline into the next book in the Birch Creek Series. I highly recommend. Do make sure you’ve read all the other Birch Creek books (in order) first.

This book was an unexpected addition to the series by the author, and it definitely lived up to its name! Not only was I surprised that there would be an extra book to read in the series, but I was also really surprised by something that happened in this book. This was a deceptively deep story that feels like a fluffy romance in many ways, but there are some real serious dilemmas in this book. I enjoyed the humor that was injected into the story that added a lighter tone to it.

Such a wonderful surprise. It isn't a surprise that I loved the book, but the book itself was an unexpected edition to the Birch Creek Series. Like most of my children it was unexpected and the perfect addition to the family. What you'll find inside: -Continued saga, must be read in order starting with The Bequest. - coming of age, navigating life at 18ish - family drama - clean romance What I loved: -Floor sandwiches and floor cake -Ethan. He's just the sweetest. -"Friend zone to the end zone" -“You’re kinda dorky,” Izzy says. “Let’s hope Beth hasn’t noticed.” -"How often are we our own worst enemy? How often do we stand squarely in the way of our own happiness?" So much truth in this statement. -Dolores Jenkins
