À propos de l'auteur

Daughter of a major-league baseball player, granddaughter of a sea captain, an award-winning painter, award-winning writer, co-owner of a successful fine-crafts gallery on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Dixie Browning is the author of more than 80 (at present—the number changes) contemporary romances for Silhouette, as well as many historical novels written with her sister, Mary Williams, as Bronwyn Williams. With paintings in a number of private, public and corporate collections, Dixie is listed in Who’s Who in American Art. She helped organize and served as first president of the North Carolina Watercolor Society, and was featured in a video produced by the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts demonstrating the use of acrylics as watercolor. Browning, whose writing career began in 1976 with a weekly newspaper column on art, went on to write romance with, as she says, absolutely no training other than a love of good stories. For several years she toured with Silhouette’s How to Write a Romance workshops. Since then she has given a number of workshops for Romance Writers of America. According to Dixie, her greatest reward has been meeting so many writers who have gone on to great success, ensuring her of an endless supply of good books to read. Besides being an award-winning painter, Dixie has won a number of awards for her writing. These include a RITA (she’s been a finalist many times), three Maggies for best historical of the year, seven top awards from the North Carolina Press Club and five first-place awards from the National Federation of Press Women. With roots that go back to the early 1700s on Hatteras Island on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, both Dixie and her sister find an endless supply of material for romances, both contemporary and historical. Married for almost 50 years, Dixie has a son, a daughter, and two grandchildren. Having recently moved back to her island home after many years on the mainland, she is currently trying to find time to paint, to write, to unpack and to read all the new books she can’t resist buying. Her hobbies have included at various times playing guitar, doing ceramics and lapidary, making jewelry, hunting for rocks, sailing, fishing, sewing—"You name it, and I’ve probably tried it," she admits. At the moment she fills her days with writing, reading, watching the Atlanta Braves and trying to landscape a high, windswept sand hill.
