Ratings and reviews

This is Janie and Boyd's story. Janie is legally blind and determined to function in life as normally as possible. Boyd is a firefighter, who is looking to be accepted into med school, but is also struggling with demons from his past. While Boyd is kind, loving, generous, Janie is so awesomely strong and independent, the things she accomplished without sight, makes me feel like a putz for complaining about difficult things in my life. This is a good story about love, friendship, loyalty, and family. There are some steamy scenes between Boyd and Janie. It was interesting to read about Jamie's perceptions as a blind person. It definitely opens your eyes regarding how you perceive the rest of the world. Boyd seemed to have this really strong presence at the beginning of the book. As I read further into the book, Boyd lost something for me. He was still loving, kind, loyal, and sweet, but something was missing. I can't quite put my finger on it. It was almost like Boyd's personality diminished as Janie's became strong. Like he lost some of himself in loving her. I just didn't feel that same strength he had in the beginning, when he found Janie in the subway. This was still a good book and I definitely recommend it. Read it, if only to form your own opinion about Boyd.

Until now Janie & Boyd have only had a fun, flirtatious relationship as co workers. Janie can't see. When she has an accident she has to rely on Boyd to help her. Boyd is kind and caring and sees past her eyesight to the real Janie. As the relationship blossoms can they find a way to have both their dreams and each other. This is a gripping story, with laughter and sadness, appearances by favourite characters and a host of new ones to look forward to. A great book that I couldn't put down.

I loved this book. Boyd and Janie bring out the best in eachother!! Janie had been loosing her eyesight since her teen years, but is fiercely independent. Boyd lost his parents to a fire when he was a young boy, and became extremely protective of his younger brother and sister. can she give up some of her independence and he learn how to protective but not overly? They definitely compliment eachother. i highly recommend this author and the love in bloom series.
