A new 2023 translation directly from the original manuscripts into English of Descartes' famous work "Treatise on Mechanics" (Traité de la mécanique). This edition contains a new introduction and afterword from the translator, as well as a timeline of Descartes' life and summaries of each of his works. Descartes discusses the principles of mechanics and the laws of motion. It is significant because it helped to establish the mathematical foundation of physics and had a significant impact on the development of modern science. Several of these Cartesian ideas are still used as foundational principles in Geometry and Physics.

His "Discourse on the Method" is the Epistemological foundation of modern science.
