It was Patty?s turn to think about that. She had been up in the tree for a long enough time to feel quite comfortable, even safe in the place where she was semi-reclining. The tree would let neither her nor Charlie fall, to her way of thinking. She was aware that was not logical; trees are not sentient, but she couldn?t help thinking this one was somehow aware what they had been doing for it and its neighbors over the last week, and would let no harm come to either of them.
