Under the circumstances, I don’t think Mom has any room to complain. After Dad came back from Afghanistan, brain-damaged and all but dead, I haven’t thought about anything but him. So what if I drink a little and use pot to escape my crap life? I get good grades, go to therapy. But apparently, I’m too much to handle.
At least, that’s what I’m told when I’m shipped off for the winter to stay with my cousin and his perfect wife in Tellure Hollow. Whatever. Real nice, Mom. Merry Christmas to you, too.
