Three people—oceanographer Professor Pierre Aronnax, his servant Conseil, and whaler Ned Land—are tossed overboard when the monster rams the ship. They discover that the monster is actually a submarine sailed by the secretive Captain Nemo. As they voyage through the seas, Captain Nemo's troubled past comes to the surface, and the journey takes a turn that may threaten them all. French author Jules Verne first published his classic science fiction novel in 1870. This is an unabridged version of the 1872 English edition, translated by Lewis Page Mercier.
