About the Author ELISIO DEPINA I recently graduated from the University of New Haven with a masterâs degree in public administration. However, I chose to work in the field of counseling instead because I want to ensure no one lives a life like I experienced. Presently, I work as a young adult counselor at the Work Place, a nonprofit career center assisting students to prepare for the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS). I also help young adults find employment and connect them to community resources, such as shelter and GED programs. Using my personal story, I motivate and advise students to continue their education. When I am not working or writing, I am a motivational speaker to middle school, high school, and college students.
