Leopold von Sacher-Masoch (1836 – 1895) was an Austrian writer and journalist who espoused utopian ideals and romanticized Galician life. Von Sacher-Masoch was born in a province of the Austrian Empire and studied law and history. He became a man of letters and an editor of a progressive magazine.
