It also heralds the arrival of one of the most exciting and acclaimed voices in contemporary fiction, who with this debut novel illustrates that in modern times innocence and basic humanity may not be enough.

DBC Pierre is the author of five works of fiction and one work of non-fiction. He has won the Man Booker Prize, the Whitbread Prize for Best First Novel, the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Award and the James Joyce Award from University College Dublin.
