Abstract: A major congressional report presents the full testimony of a 1987 hearing before the US Senate on the scope, accomplishments, costs, and importance of the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The report includes the statements of 3 Senators and testimony by 8 witnesses. The witnesses included USDA leaders, state (Iowa, Missouri, Oregon) and national WIC leaders, and the executive director of Bread for the World. Additional material provided by a regional USDA Food and Nutrition Service office and by the US General Accounting Office also is included.
