This is a novel from The Deep 8 series and it is Sean and Jess story and omg this book is absolutely amazing. Sean is a ex navy seal but he now runs his own security company MBK Global security and for everything that he has gone through he has never forget Jess the girl he walked away from to protect her but he always regretted doing that but after his next mission he has decided that he will find her and tell her how he feels and hopefully she will feel the same way but his next assignment is a big shock in it's is when he arrives in Afghanistan. Jess is an investigative reporter and when her sister contacts her to say that she is being held prisoner by a warlord in Afghanistan Jess decides to go and use the cover name of Daphne to write a article on Isaad who is the wealthiest man in Afghanistan and also find her sister but what she wasn't expecting was to see Sean after so many years in Isaad's house and Jess asks herself why is Sean there and will he be able to help her and her sister get out alive. Sean and Jess have a long history since they were childhood friends but now years later and in a dangerous situation everything comes to a head and they need to get out alive before they can explore how they feel about each other. Omg this book was absolutely amazing and I couldn't put it down as the characters and storyline pulled you in right from the first page and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what would happen next and this book certainly keeps you on your toes with all its twists and turns along the way and it was so addictive. This is the first book that I have read by Kenzie Macallan but definitely not the last as it was so well written and definitely worth reading and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future. Jess Wilander, an investigative reporter, goes undercover in order to find her sister, who was kidnapped by an Afghan warlord. Sean has to find a way to get his target, his old friend and her sister away to safety. But now there's another complication ... Sean is realizing that the one person he has always loved .. is Jess. But Jess doesn't trust him completely, but has no choice but to accept his help in finding her sister. It's a fast-paced, action-packed plot with page-turning excitement. The characters are cleverly drawn. The romance is steamy, spicy, titillating. WARNING: Graphic intimate moments. Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this romantic suspense. Quite a bumpy ride. There was plenty of action and suspense. I loved the reunion between Jess and Sean, and how they were honest with each other as well as protective. She was a little head strong but had a big heart. Her love for Pippa and the other women pushed her to take risks. Sean had his own past to deal with but it made him a stronger person. I enjoyed this couple, and I found this an interesting, read-to-the-last-page beginning to a series. I recommend it.
