वॉल्टर इलियस डिज्नी का जन्म
5 दिसंबर; 1901 को शिकागो में हुआ। मेहनतकश वर्ग के प्रतिनिधि इलियस और फ्लोरा डिज्नी की वे चौथी संतान थे। सन् 1906 में डिज्नी परिवार शिकागो छोड़कर मार्सलीन (मिसूरी) में जाकर बस गया।
परिवार के कुछ सदस्यों ने चित्रांकन के प्रति वॉल्ट की दिलचस्पी को प्रोत्साहन दिया था और शिकागो में वापस आने पर उन्होंने आर्ट क्लासों में हिस्सा भी लिया था। वे रेडक्रॉस के पोस्टर और संपादकीय कार्टून बनाने लगे थे। सन् 1928 में वॉल्ट ने प्रथम ध्वनियुक्त कार्टून फिल्म ‘स्टीम वोट विली’ प्रदर्शित की। सन् 1948 में ‘ट्रू लाइफ एडवेंचर शृंखला’ की पहली फिल्म ‘सील्स इन अलास्का’ प्रदर्शित हुई; जिसे अगले साल ‘अकादमी पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया गया।
