About this eBook

This romantic wartime story relates what happens when a New England student leaves his girlfriend to take part in the war in the Far East. After training, he arrives in Burma in the fall in 1944, having first had a strange dream that he will return the following year, when the leaves start to fall! The meaning of this dream becomes apparent during his time there as he almost dies of malaria, has a brief liaison with his nurse, is captured by the Japanese, spends many months in a prison camp, working on building roads, culminating, against all the odds, in a memorable trip from prison back to safety. Emaciated, exhausted, almost devoid of any strength, he arrives back in America, just as the first leaves start to fall.

About the author

Having completed a diploma in teaching English to foreigners a few years ago, I became interested in communication thought into written word. This book is a culmination of many thoughts I had while traveling through the United States, and having met many people in the country, I decided to put my thoughts into a story. The content of the book is very close to my heart as during the war, my great-uncle was captured by the Japanese and spent some time as a prisoner. He helped to build a bridge there. Nowadays, I live on the coast in Cornwall, a perfect place to write fiction, with the scenery enhancing my imagination. I have four grandchildren, whom I hope one day will be proud of my books. I have an open university degree in science, but now writing has become more of a passion with the passing years.
