Unfortunately, the twelve-year-old sleuths, Yasmeen and Alex, are having friendship issues--Yasmeen thinks that she's being replaced by a new girl who has come to Chickadee Court. Then, the whole gang comes together to solve the frosty mystery. Believe it or not, the clues lead to a fracking operation and the laboratory of a professor who is racing to invent a new alternative fuel before his competitors do.

Martha Freeman's three energetic children inspire much of her writing material. She is the author of many books, including Who Stole Halloween?, which School Library Journal said "will entice even reluctant readers with its action and humor," and Who Is Stealing the 12 Days of Christmas?, called "clever" and "a festive read" by Publishers Weekly. She lives in State College, Pennsylvania.
