Note the handwritten signature of a person by the name of Bushrod Washington, potentially the nephew of George Washington and US Supreme Court justice, who was born in 1762. The book's 1765 publication predates his birth by several years, but there is no reason why he could not have owned or consulted the volume at a later date, particularly if it is one that is referred to him out of an established private or acedemic collection. A further affirmative comment is found on an earlier leaf stating that it was purchased from a sale of Washington's books in Philadelphia in 1876, apparently contributing to the association to George Washington and his nephew.
