About the author

William Green III, grew up in East Palo Alto, a San Francisco Bay area community with his parents, Birdie and William Green Jr. and with his five sisters.  He earned the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from San Jose State University with honors (3.75 GPA), and achieved an MSW (Masters in Social Work) from California State University Sacramento.

    William works with SAPA (Sacramento Alliance to Prevent AIDS) a Sacramento County agency.  William is the chairperson of the SAPA’s Faith-Based Subcommittee formed to engage and support the Faith Community’s efforts against the HIV/AIDS pandemic.  William is also a member of the Sacramento County HIV Services Planning Council helping the infected community efficiently obtain access to health and social services. William is an HIV Counselor II certified by the California Office of AIDS, a certified Hepatitis C educator/tester, and Treasurer of the HCV Hepatitis C Virus Task Force in Sacramento, CA.  

In June 2009, William founded MARPAY, INC., a faith-based nonprofit organization to increase community awareness of HIV/AIDS by providing pastoral training and ministry building to help churches effectively educate and support their congregations and the communities in which they serve.  Marpay is a Hebrew word which translates into; “to cure, to be healed”.  

    Since his early days as president of the youth choir William’s life continues to reflect his strong faith in God for help to overcome the challenges placed in his life.  William will not rest until he has empowered countless others face challenges, overcome, and excel.

    William is often invited by churches and other health and community organizations as a keynote speaker and facilitator for HIV/AIDS training and testing events. William lives in Sacramento with his loving and supportive wife, Susan.
