I listened to this book newly released on audio. The author narrates it himself. He has a great acting voice bringing me into the story and holding my attention. Sounds effects were also added at places throughout the narrative which brings it alive. I enjoyed the evil part a lot because of this. Listening to this book was quite fun. It ended too soon, although the storyline was completed. There are three more books (ebooks) in this series. I would love to hear the rest on audio. The tale in audio definitely made me happy. I think it also helped me relate better to a very stoic character because of the voice acting. It easier to visualize and connect. The author did a great job with this. Definitely, recommend this tale, but especially in audio. I will be reading the rest of the series and checking out more by this author. I listened to it in one sitting. This first book is short and so the audio is too.

About the author

Will Hahn has been in love with heroic tales since age four, when his father read him the Lays of Ancient Rome and the Tales of King Arthur. He taught Ancient-Medieval History for years, but the line between this world and others has always been thin; the far reaches of fantasy, like the distant past, still bring him face to face with people like us, who have choices to make.

Will didn't always make the right choices when he was young. Any stick or vaguely-sticklike object became a sword in his hands, to the great dismay of his five sisters. Everyone survived, in part by virtue of a rule forbidding him from handling umbrellas, ski poles, curtain rods and more.

Will has written about the Lands of Hope since his college days (which by now are also part of ancient history). You can find much more about the Lands of Hope, including a Compendium of information about the Lands on his website (www.williamlhahn.com) and a Facebook page on the History of the Lands (https://www.facebook.com/TheLandsOfHope?ref=hl).
