About this ebook

A veteran and a gun-for-hire team up to take down a dangerous beauty in this Western by the authors of the New York Times bestselling Smoke Jensen series.

Angel of Death

When a lovely lady steps off a dusty stagecoach in Hangtree, the hardest heart skips a beat—and Sam Heller falls hard for her. What Hangtree doesn’t know, however, is that Julia Pepperday isn’t who she pretends to be. She is the daughter of the late Black Ear Skinner, a notorious outlaw who wanted his only child to have all the advantages in life and sent her back east.

Black Ear Skinner’s apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree, though. Julia has turned her back on the fancy boarding school and set her sights on Hangtree, because that’s where Sam Heller has built a hard-earned fortune. Backed by her late father’s gang, Julia is out to separate Sam from his money and destroy Hangtree in the process. But while Sam and Hangtree have lost their heads, Johnny Cross has kept his—and he’s getting ready for war . . .

they changed background up sam isnt secret service anymore ( even though in books 1 & 2 he is & then again in book4) in this book3 he is a millionaire cattle rancher ex yankee soldier wierd then johhny cross who in books 1 & 2 says went to fight in the war for the confederacy after his mom died of pneumonia and his father having died years and years ago. his brother also enlisted before Johnny (Johnny stayed to care for his mom) died in the battle of shiloh. and johhny joined william quantrell and stayed with him to the end even after bill anderson split off from william quantrell. then drifted into gunwork for about 1 year after the war ended before coming home cus they didnt offer amnesty for quantrells raiders. in this book he rode with anderson after the split then left anderson & went home after anderson went crazy & they tracked him to hangtree shot & left him 4 dead & killed his whole family that supposed tobeen dead already, why is this book only one to have diff backgrounds?
