This is a great book for those carvers who wish to carve as they did years ago. It is written from the point of view of the European wood carver (use of chisels more than gouges) and gives the reader a sound background in flat ornamental carving. Very little is given to what we know as "carving in the round" such as caricature or dimensional carving (life like animals).
