Addresses the Year 2000 computing problem. Its objectives were to (1) outline the Year 2000 risks facing the government and the nation, (2) describe the evolution of the federal government's Year 2000 strategy, and (3) identify additional actions that can be taken by the Executive Branch to prepare the nation for the year 2000. Its views are based upon over 2 dozen reports issued over the past year on the Year 2000 readiness of a wide range of federal agencies as well as on extensive consultations with various experts in information technology and years of experience in and knowledge of federal agencies' computer systems.
