4.5 SMOKING HOT STARS After reading the first book in this standalone series (I, Porn Star, which has since been re-named Beautiful Liar), I was an instant fan. You don't have to read the first book to understand Black Sheep. Although Quinn Blackwood makes a cameo appearances, this is a true standalone. I am completely addicted to Zara Cox's ability weave an intense and complex tale overflowing with angst, intensity and electrifying chemistry. This dark mafia romance is fueled by secrets, sins and sex and kept my heart racing the entire time. I would say the mafia part is more of a minor element as it doesn't focus on the everyday operations within the crime organization. But the hero and heroine both have fathers who were actively involved in the mafia. Neither one of them has an active role in the organization. Axel and Cleo's relationship is an example of how love and hate can be two sides of the same razor sharp blade. There is plenty of raw emotion, suspense and enticing, carnal heat. The only issues I had were that the end of the story was a little rushed, and I was left wondering about a couple of seemingly unresolved issues and unfinished business. Encore, maybe?

What a story! A little bit short at the end, but still good.
