meXicana Encounters charts the dynamic and contradictory representation of Mexicanas and Chicanas in culture. Rosa Linda Fregoso's deft analysis of the cultural practices and symbolic forms that shape social identities takes her across a wide and varied terrain. Rosa Linda Fregoso is Professor of Latin American/Latino Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is the editor of The Devil Never Sleeps and Other Films by Lourdes Portillo (2001), and the author of The Bronze Screen: Chicana and Chicano Film Culture (1993).
