About this ebook

An antimeme is an idea with self-censoring properties; an idea which, by its intrinsic nature, discourages or prevents people from spreading it.

Antimemes are real. Think of any piece of information which you wouldn't share with anybody, like passwords, taboos and dirty secrets. Or any piece of information which would be difficult to share even if you tried: complex equations, very boring passages of text, large blocks of random numbers, and dreams...

But anomalous antimemes are another matter entirely. How do you contain something you can't record or remember? How do you fight a war against an enemy with effortless, perfect camouflage, when you can never even know that you're at war?

Welcome to the Antimemetics Division.

No, this is not your first day.

This is the culmination of the entire SCP corpus, supremely combining the site's early horror with its later peaks of hard science fiction and original concepts. Antimemetics perfected the SCP idea—no tale, article, or hub ever gripped me like this series, nor did any threat feel more perniciously real than 3125. If I had to recommend only a single piece of content for someone to read from the entire collection, it would be this. Take a Class-Z Amnestic and strap in.

Lovely and horrifying, and exactly what anything of such strange and expansive ideas should be. A reader will question the very concepts of memory, relevance, care, love, knowledge, and truth. This is a full and wonderfully dark ride which persists to a strange and grim, though persistently bright end.

I really enjoyed this book, so different from what I normally read (or is it? Have I read many books like this one before, or even this one previously?) and filled with new ideas. It's maybe a bit of a horror, certainly quite surreal. I think that if the blurb sounds interesting, you should certainly give it a try.
