About this ebook

What happens when a family loses everything and has no place to go?

Terrance Mack has a wife and two young boys. Never in a million years did he expect to find his family living on the streets, with no home, no jobs, in a position where everything they owned has been taken from them in the cruelest of ways. As the family struggles to stay together, they encounter a hard and unfriendly way of life, having to move from town to town, being harassed by the police and by locals, and confronting danger each day. Living on the streets is nothing as he expected.

All Terrance wants for his family is for someone to give them a chance—a chance for a new beginning, a roof over their heads, the opportunity to once again build a life without constant fear, having to look over their shoulders, feeling as if the rug will continue to be yanked out from under them again and again.

The worst is seeing the light in his wife’s eyes slowly diminish, along with the hope they once had. Terrance carries a constant weight, and every day brings a new challenge as doors close and they’re forced to move on. Even though they’ve stayed together, finding a place to stay has forced the family into survival mode, living one day at a time. The dignity Terrance once took for granted has become something he struggles to hold on to as he dreams of one day being able to have a peaceful night’s sleep.

What this world desperately needs right now are more like Terrance Mack. We need (figurative) “street fighters” who are willing to stand up against the bullies, to protect the innocent and those who can’t defend themselves when corrupt politicians and local authorities are determined to game the system for their own benefit or the benefit of those who believe they’re privileged. There’s no way you can read this story without feeling strong emotions. It will make you mad, frustrate you, and tear your heart out. You’ll want to rail against the injustices that make those who only want to help the downtrodden have to fight uphill battles, that often are lost, to do so. FINDING HOME is an emotional tale with a message that is vital not only in the telling but most importantly it needs to be heard. This story is a powerful illustration of the plight of our homeless in today’s society and the blasé manner in which local governments just sweep the issue aside, either ignoring it or covering it up, often with the inherent misappropriation of funds in the so doing. The tale of Terrance and his family’s struggles to overcome their homelessness, yet maintain their dignity and integrity, is compelling and will leave you with very strong feelings that may make a difference in your personal outlook on life. It certainly will give you something to think and talk about. It’s a story well worth reading and sharing!

Finding Home although a work of fiction describes the reality of daily life for many thousands of people around the world. There is a lot of prejudice in relation to homeless persons, they are mostly "unseen" by society and usually desired to be hidden by some authorities. This story gives the main character a happy ending but that's the exception and not the rule, especially when you think about developing and poor countries where living conditions are worsening at an alarming pace. I believe Lorhainne is doing a great job with this story (and in so many others) as she calls for attention to the homeless issue in any country. Even if it talks about a difficult societal issue, this story is easy to read and entertaining. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Once again, this very talented author gives the reader a thought provoking story. One which is not only heartbreaking and very much worth reading. In this first book of the series, we meet Terrance Mack. A man that by no fault of his own, ends up homeless. To make matters worse, not only is he on the streets, but so is his wife and two boys. That alone has him feeling helpless. If only someone would give them a break. As what usually happens, when being seen in the streets, many of these individuals are misunderstood. The police and sadly, society, those in power, and those wanting to “clean the streets” , think of those homeless as not having tried and not caring, when frequently, the reality is the opposite. What happens when someone like Terrance takes a stand against the bullies? This was a great start for a series that will undoubtedly make this reader take a stand . I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
