A wonderful tale of love and redemption Malcolm and Vivian meet in a rather clandestine manner, revealing all their secrets except their identities. Malcolm is still reeling from the tragic events that ended his betrothal, and Vivian is just starting to experience life now that she's a young widow. It's clear to everyone how perfect they are together, but when their masks come off, it's anyone's bet as to how things are going to work out. An understandable misunderstanding keeps these two doubting and dancing around the obvious, while their incendiary chemistry keeps drawing them back together. Malcolm needs to first forgive himself before he can truly love anyone, and I loved the journey of the heart that the author crafted for him. This short book takes place after both The Duke's Defiant Angel and The Beast's Ruined Bride. Even though the books are from different series, they're all set in the same interconnected world, and each is a standalone romance with an HEA. I highly recommend them all.

Quick read with lots of heat. I wish it was longer because I really wanted more info than was provided. I'm intrigued enough to want to read the next book in the series.
