I am S L Hollister aka Sherri, the mom to six grown sons and grandmother to at last count, 23 grands. They give me a lot of inspiration. I writes contemporary romantic suspense inspired by my hometown, places I’ve visited and the people I love.
People have asked me why I don’t write about my adventures raising six sons. As an only child I had no clue what I was getting myself into when we got custody of my husband’s three sons and combined our family, but I wouldn’t trade our time together for anything. Of course, if you know me, you know I’ve earned every gray hair. My only saving grace was I didn’t have twins. My youngest and his wife have identical mischief makers. They’re adorable but my daughter-in-law deserves a medal, or a spa trip.
It’s been a running joke around our house that if you piss mom off she will put you in her book and kill you off on page fifty, but some know they’re the smelly corpse lying in the ditch at the very beginning of the story. Heck, it’s not even a threat anymore my grandkids are begging to be put in my books and even telling me how I can kill them off. I mean really, where’s the threat in that? What can I say? I have long conversations with my children and grandchildren about blowing things up and how to get rid of the bodies. The holidays are never boring around our house.
I’ve been married to my romantic hero for over 30 years, raised six sons, have 23 grandchildren, and published 12 novels. I have been published in several anthologies and a couple of magazines, but I’m still learning. I’m the chairperson for the Pamlico Writers’ Group, a member of RWA (Romance Writers of America) and VP of Communications with Heart of Carolina chapter. A member of Kiss of Death RWA chapter and an ambassador for AlLi (Alliance of Independent Authors). That’s me in the nut shells.
