This is a Kid's Kid's Book. Parents aren't aloud to ruin the relationship between "hating" (school/homework/chores) and finding the humor in things for these readers. My child went through major trauma (home & school) and Pilkey was able to cradle some of our issues and promote an outlet for some of the socio-emotional trauma they had been EXPOSED TO being an only child, unliked (by 'certain' girls), and embracing "favorite" things. I applaud Pilkey on his relative stance. Sometimes, out-of-the-box is the way to go❣️ Good work❣️❣️

I was having a hard time making my son because he didn't like to read. He saw a boy at school that had a book with the tittle under pants. He came home wanting to read this book. At first I thought he was making up the name. I went online and looked it up. When he saw the Captain Underpants drawing he said."This is the one" I went ahead and I preview the book and I bought it. Now he has all the book collection and looking forward for the "dog man" he laughs and reads beautifully...👏👍😊

Sometimes when you have a very stressful day, you just need complete weirdness to change your mood (This book does that).

About the author

When Dav Pilkey was a kid, he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. Dav was so disruptive in class that his teachers made him sit out in the hallway every day. Luckily, Dav loved to draw and make up stories. He spent his time in the hallway creating his own original comic books -- the very first adventures of Dog Man and Captain Underpants. In the second grade, Dav's teacher ripped up his comics and told him he couldn't spend the rest of his life making silly books. Fortunately, Dav was not a very good listener.
