Jovie and Jake both are very intense and loud characters. Both live for their job as first responders and they never think about the danger once they have a job to do. Bold. Beautiful. And their personalities are colourful. You can feel their electric energy whenever they are in a room. It was a slow burn but also very explosive. I love how Jake is big everywhere. Pun intended. Big body. Big muscle. Big assets. Big heart. Big smile. He has a suitably arrogance and panty melting charm. And like Jovie, I feel his dedication to his job is a big turn on. Even when he gets promoted to captain, he leads by example. Jovie has a fierce and sassy personality. Sharp wit. Sharp mouth. Sharp sex appeal. Sharp work ethic. She is just amazing. Jake showed Jovie that they have something worthy of exploring but Jovie was scared of getting hurt. Kind of ironical to see our brave girl afraid of heartbreak but I felt her dilemma. They made me laugh so hard and then swoon and then, pant! (ARC)

Sometimes you can't help who you are attracted to, no matter how much you fight it. Jovi's dad was a firefighter who was killed in a line of duty death. She has sworn herself away from dating firemen let alone falling for one. It doesn't help that she is a paramedic and often crosses paths of firefighters. One in particular, Jake. She tries to fight her attraction, but Jake will not be discouraged. He never lets up. Sometimes you can't win. Jake tries to make her understand accidents can happen to anyone regardless of their occupation. Why live life never allowing yourself to get to know someone because there is a chance something could happen to them. Love is worth the risk. Sometimes you just have to trust in love. It could turn out to be the greatest love of all. If you don't give it a chance you'll never know.

Jake and Jovie are both in the business of saving lives - Jake runs into the flames and Jovie deals with the injured after their rescue. They are both great at their jobs - it's just a pity their love lives are such a disaster area! But Fate does like to meddle and her next targets are Jovie and Jake. Jovie is trying to protect her heart from the potential loss loving a firefighter may bring but a loss isn't a guaranteed outcome so is she breaking her heart now for no reason? I totally consumed this in one go! I just couldn't put it down. You're always guaranteed the heart and the heat with a JW book and I wasn't disappointed. The laughs were thick and fast too. Brilliant read!
